So what happened?
Simple. Facebook happened.
After signing up for Facebook the summer before I went to college, I neglected my little LiveJournal that had seen me through the years and instead used Facebook to catalog my life. As easy and useful as Facebook is, I feel like it has made me disconnected from my own life. Instead of sharing my thoughts with other people, I just write a status about it. Instead of announcing big occurrences to my friends and family, I just write about it on Facebook. When times are hard, I just write a cryptic status about it and move on. As a result, I don't talk about things anymore, which is very strange for me. At first I thought that I was just growing up and had nothing more to talk about, but I've realized that I'm just completely out of touch with how I think and feel.
So this brings me to resolutions, specifically ones for a new year. I always make several resolutions, but this year I have one main resolution with smaller secondary resolutions that stem from it:
Blog at least once a week.
I realize this is kind of a pathetic new year's resolution, but I think it would be helpful to my sanity. I want to use this blog as a blank canvas to talk about anything I feel like talking about-- just like the good ole days of LiveJournal.
Along with blogging, I also resolve to:
- Make better use of the clothes that I have. I spend far too much money on clothing, mostly because I don't plan ahead well enough and don't utilize enough pieces in my closet. The first step I need to take is to organize my closet more efficiently. I also need to stop buying clothes and start spending a little money on accessories.
- Save, save, save. In exactly a year, I will be forced to give up my job and start student teaching; therefore, I will be broke. I need to plan for this.
- Take better care of myself. I've made great strides in this area in the past year. I don't really drink anymore, I try not to eat out as much, and I go to the doctor 3 times a year. I really need to start an exercise regiment though. Hopefully 2011 will be the year for it.
- Read more! For a person with a bachelor's in English, I really don't read enough. Hopefully my nook color will inspire me to read.
